Behavior Technician Training

The Capella University Behavior Technician training course is a non-degree and non-credit learning opportunity powered by Sophia and developed in partnership with the Center for Autism Related Disorders (CARD). The course is aligned with both the Board Certified Autism Technician (“BCAT”) credential task list and the Registered Behavior Technician (“RBT”) Task List (2nd ed) to meet the 40-hour training requirements for either credential. This course is endorsed by the Behavioral Intervention Certification Council (BICC), the independent certifying entity for the BCAT. Course materials cover the functional areas, responsibilities, and associated knowledge as defined by BICC. The course is offered independent of the BACB.

This is an exam preparation course and is not intended to lead to state license, credential or certification. State licensing boards review each applicant’s completed education, exam scores, supervised experience, criminal history, and application materials at the time of license application to determine eligibility. Sophia and Capella University cannot guarantee certification or licensure; it is your responsibility to ensure that you meet all of your state’s licensure requirements. Sophia and Capella University do not guarantee that any candidate taking the Behavior Technician Training course will pass the BCAT or RBT exam and secure employment as a behavior technician.
